ironic

it is ironic that desire and fear should come together
that fear and bravery sometimes go hand in hand
just like confidence and insecurity
--- love and hate
--- sadness and joy
--- belonging and loneliness

it has been said that these things compose 2 sides of a coin
and we cannot escape one or the other
we cannot have one and not the other
each is a necessary evil

ironic that what keeps us away
pulls us together

ironic that the things we want
may be the things that could hurt us

and the things that we dislike
are things that are good for us

life is an irony
where the short-sighted end is death

love is an irony
where hurt is inevitable

guilty as charged

again and again
the hurts remain

again and again
i take the blame

as always
i am the one to blame

with every hurt

it is as if i have only caused it
but do not suffer it as well

with every pain
