In the meantime
"In the meantime"
I have come to believe that there is such a thing as knowing that what you have or what you are cannot last forever. And this is where the line, "in the meantime" comes in. It is widely used and fairly simple to understand. Usually it is used to indicate that an occurence or object or even person is in a state that is passing, temporary, limited, and generally unstable. Like a pit-stop in a train ride or a time-out during a game, it's a stop-over, a pause, a moratorium in this trip called life.
It's like knowing that whatever it is, is just for now. It's not permanent. It won't last.
My thought on this though would be that although this term is otherwise essential in differentiating what is relatively permanent and what is not ...
the reality is that everything is just "in the meantime."
